Why Should I Bet on
Hockey? by Tom Freese Marc 2004
Why should I bet on Hockey? That is one of the most asked
questions I get as a professional sports handicapper. The answer
is simple. It's because you can make money betting on NHL games.
Linesmakers spend less time and energy into posting NHL lines
than they do any of the other major sports. Because they get
more "ACTION" on Football, Basketball, and Baseball
they focus mainly on those sports. With that said, an astute
hockey handicapper can find greater value in the NHL than in any
of the other sports. Those of you who wager on sporting events
to make money would be well advised to bet on the NHL as well. I
realize that hockey is not the most popular sport in the United
States, but I also realize MONEY is very popular. I am not going
to wax poetic here and say that the NHL is fool proof and you
can't lose. That is not the case. However, I will tell you that
I have had 4 winning seasons in the last 5 years handicapping
the NHL. With my only losing season coming last year with the
losses being small. I handicap the NHL the same way I do all the
other sports. Simply put we PLAY ON teams who are in roles that
they are very good in and we PLAY AGAINST teams that are in
roles in which they are very poor in. In essence it is time
tested ANGLES, TRENDS, and SYSTEMS that have been reliable over
several years. In closing what we have here is a very simple
formula. I concentrate more in the area where the linesmakers
concentrate the least and I plan on winning in the NHL at least
4 out of the next 5 years. Here's hoping you do as well.
For any of you who like to make FUTURE BETS, my team to win the
STANLEY CUP this year is the OTTAWA SENATORS. The Senators lost
to the Devils in the Eastern Conference Finals last year in a
series where they outplayed the Devils. This years Ottawa team
is better then last year and from what I can see they are the
only team in the NHL without a weakness. The Sens will be
drinking from Lord Stanley's Cup at year's end.
